The
Blissful Skies cabin is located in Piney Creek
in Alleghany County, North Carolina. We are near
Sparta, Jefferson and West Jefferson, as well as
many of the amazing High Country attractions and
activities. There are tons of ways to enjoy the
great outdoors here - the options are endless!
With several of the best ski resorts in the
southeast located an easy drive away, the winter
is a great time to plan a vacation here. Some of
the ski resorts also offer snow tubing and ice
skating.
For the golf fanatics, there are numerous
excellent golf courses nearby. Be sure to check
out at least a few of them - these mountain
courses are among some of the best.
The
New River provides many exciting adventures for
the rest of the year. Fishing is one of the most
popular ways to pass the day - fish from the
banks or schedule a guided float trip. Canoeing
and tubing are also great ways to enjoy the
scenery. There are also several hiking trails
not to be missed - the area is known for
beautiful flora in the spring and summer.
Another way to enjoy the mountain scenery is on
horseback. There are several stables in the area
that offer guided trail rides.
For a more relaxing afternoon, spend the day
antiquing at some of the shops located nearby.
There is a wide variety, with small and large
shops and everything in between! You're sure to
find some real treasures. In the fall,
leaf-watching is another popular activity.
You'll see some of the most incredible patchwork
of colors on the mountainside - don't forget to
bring a camera!
Gem mining is another favorite pastime for
visitors. There are several gem mines located
nearby - it's a great place for the kids to
spend the day and bring home a special treasure
to remember their trip.
The High Country is also known for its
attractions. The Blue Ridge Parkway is the most
visited National Park in the country. With all
the scenic vistas located along the parkway, it
makes a wonderful afternoon drive.
One of the most famous attractions is Tweetsie
Railroad. Ride the old steam engine through the
mountain or enjoy the rides and shops in the
theme park.
The Virginia Creeper Trail was once a steam
engine track into the Iron Mountains. The old
railroad beds have been converted into trail
systems for hikers and bikers. Just over 34
miles total, you can rent bicycles at shops on
the trail, or bring your own.
Linville Caverns is a natural limestone cavern
located at the base of Humpback Mountain in the
Linville Valley. See amazing rock formations and
a variety of animals on your underground
adventure.
The Biltmore Estate, located in Asheville, is
America's largest home. Enjoy the gardens,
winery, outdoor activities on the 8,000 acres of
the estate. The Biltmore Estate brings visitors
from all over the country to North Carolina year
